Hello everyone.
This is about possibly the smallest car in the 1954 Panamericana, both in real size and our scale of 1:43
This car is the Jim Cassidy "MG-Cassidy Special "



Some time ago on the Forum a model of this car made by Stripped Pine was posted, it was a good effort by him.
So I contacted Brian Phipps to buy a body of the car from him.
He told me he only had one body left, as his old resin mold was broken, and he couldn't make anymore.
I asked him to sell the one he had, at first he didn't want to sell it, he said it was in very very bad condition.
Anyway I eventually got the body, and he was right it was really bad.

With your permission here is my version, my decal guy nearly had a heart attack making the decals !!

This is the body after the resin floor casting was cut out and a new floor/transmission tunnel made, and of course lots of putty.....





This is the finished body after primer and white paint.
The grill slats and tiny brackets for the mesh grill are fitted.....





So here is the finished car, the number of hours to get it to this, no one would believe.............

Who doesn't like the 1950's Studebakers designed by Raymond Loewy ?

This is about the Studebaker Commander Coupe from the 1954 Panamericana driven by "Scotty" Yantis.



This model has been shown on the Forum before, but with your permission this is my version.
The car started with a Brooklin model......



There was so much paint applied by Brooklin, that all the body details were covered over, so it had to be stripped to bare metal.....



The interior colors were taken from a Sudebaker color chart and an interior photo of the real car in two tone Aqua/Green.......







The body was primed and painted white with the black roof stripe.......



Here is the finished car.......

I have pleasure in being on this Forum amongst friends of similkar interest.

We all know how Cadillacs were very popular in the early races.
Jack Mcaffee and Ford Robinson entered a Series 62 #118 in 1950.
Then they came back in 1951 with another Series 62 #89 this time in Orange not Black.

I hope you enjoy the following photos of my version of the #89 Car.

It all started with a NEO model of the Cadillac.......,



Stripping a model from NEO of all the Photo Etch parts, can give you a big headache or lots of high blood pressure
Here is the body in primer and in Orange after being painted with the interior.....





Final assembly of all the Photo Etch parts and new windows ready for the decals.
An unusual item on the real car are the 3 exhaust pipes just behind the front wheels both sides.



Here is the finished car, first time produced in 1:43 as far as I know.....











I would like to thank my friend Guy Muller for all the reference photos of this Cadillac.
A sincere thank you also to all those who encourage the building of these cars.

A lot of teams had their own service trucks.

Jack McAffee had his Chevrolet 3100 that serviced his #89 Cadillac.
However it suffered from crash on some part of the race as you can see.....





I have only done one service truck before, the Ford F100 from the 1954 race.
So I thought to compliment the Cadillac #89 I would build the McAfee service truck also.
With your permission I will show you my version of the truck.
This is how it started.........



All stripped down ready for painting.......



Body, Tray and Interior painted.......



Rear tray with wood plank bottom, Chevrolet in white letters on the tailgate......



Before applying the decals the entire body was sprayed with a satin clear coat to replicate the finish on the truck.
Then the spare tires, fuel cans, tarpaulins and spare parts bags added to the tray......













I would like to acknowledge Guy Muller and thank him for the photos, without his assistance these models could not have been built.
And thank you to all for taking the time to look at all these photos !!
